However, Yeongdo Hospital has established a system capable of performing emergency surgeries 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Yeongdo Hospital's History and Designation as a Comprehensive Secondary General Hospital

Yeongdo Hospital, which began as Yeongdo Surgical Clinic in 1981 under the leadership of Honorary Director Jeong Jun-hwan, celebrated its 45th anniversary on the first of this month. On the same day, it was also designated as a Comprehensive Secondary General Hospital by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. A Comprehensive Secondary General Hospital provides timely treatment for patients with moderate illnesses and emergency surgical cases in the region, serving as a crucial link in the medical referral system between local clinics and tertiary general hospitals.

Hospital Director Jeong Do-hyeon's Vision

Director Jeong considers emergency surgical operations a core function of the hospital. His decision to pursue a career in surgery was deeply influenced by his upbringing in Busan. During his training at Seoul National University Hospital, he was profoundly struck by seeing patients from Busan and Jeonnam travel to Seoul for appendicitis surgery. He resolved, "I want to become a surgeon who can provide reliable surgical care for Busan residents right here in Busan."
