The Ultimate Kitchen Hack: Mixing Salt with Dish Soap for a Sparkling Clean

Mixing Salt with Dish Soap

Maximizing Cleaning Power by Mixing Salt with Dish Soap

Hello everyone! Today, I'm sharing a super useful kitchen cleaning tip for all you homemakers out there. It's all about making a versatile cleaner using salt! Salt isn't just an ingredient you can easily find at home; it boasts powerful sterilizing and deodorizing effects, making it an absolutely fantastic natural cleaning agent. So, shall we dive into how to make this salt-infused dish soap cleaner?

How to Make the Cleaner

First, grab a bowl of a suitable size for mixing. Then, pour in 1 cup of water, using a paper cup as a measure. Next, add one generous pump of your regular dish soap. You don't need too much – one pump is usually enough to create plenty of suds.

Now, add 1 tablespoon of either coarse salt or flaky salt. Salt acts as a natural disinfectant and antibacterial agent, sanitizing dirty areas without harsh chemicals. Plus, the fine granules and components of salt help to physically absorb and break down kitchen grease and stubborn grime.

Add another tablespoon of baking soda to the mix. Baking soda is a mildly alkaline substance that's excellent at dissolving tough grease. When combined with salt, it creates a synergistic effect, tackling unpleasant odors and inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. Mix all the ingredients well to create your homemade multi-purpose cleaner.

How to Use Your Homemade Cleaner

Transfer the freshly made cleaner into a spray bottle. This makes cleaning so much more convenient! The natural all-purpose cleaner you've just made can be stored and used for about 1 week from the day of preparation.

Dispense the cleaner from the spray bottle and apply the rich foam evenly all over your sink basin and faucet. It's best to let the foam, combined with salt and baking soda, sit for about 3 to 5 minutes to allow it to break down slimy water stains and mold. This soaking time helps the ingredients work their magic.

Tips for a Sparkling Kitchen

After letting the grime soak, gently scrub the stained areas with a soft sponge. Then, rinse thoroughly with running water. You'll be amazed as the stubborn white limescale and built-up grime on your faucet magically disappear! Thanks to the antibacterial properties of salt, you'll achieve not only visible cleanliness but also eliminate those musty odors emanating from your sink drain.

Additionally, apply a generous amount of the all-purpose cleaner onto your stovetop or induction cooktop, where cooking splatters and food stains have hardened over time. The mildly alkaline baking soda will begin to soften these stubborn, caked-on grease stains, making it easier to remove them without intense scrubbing. The hardened grease and grime will detach more easily.

Once the grime has softened sufficiently, gently wipe away the foam and grease with a damp cloth or paper towel, then finish with a dry cloth. The salt will absorb any remaining oily residue, leaving surfaces squeaky clean and refreshed.

Now, maintain a spotless kitchen with this salt-powered multi-purpose cleaner! It's a simple yet effective way to clean various parts of your home, so definitely give it a try!
