GSK and Relation Therapeutics Ink Collaboration Deal
On the 30th (local time), the UK-based AI biotech company Relation Therapeutics and GSK signed a research collaboration agreement valued at up to $110 million. This agreement includes an upfront payment and milestone payments based on research achievements, though specific amounts have not been disclosed. The collaboration focuses on generating data to predict how drug candidates, through AI, might impact genes and cellular functions related to diseases.
Adopting a Multi-Omics Approach
In this research, Relation plans to generate extensive 'cellular response data' by measuring internal cellular changes after regulating gene functions in human cells or treating them with drugs. This data will be used to train AI models to predict the efficacy of drug candidates. Furthermore, they will track how cellular responses evolve over time using automated experimental techniques.

Identifying Reliable Therapeutic Targets

This is not the first collaboration between GSK and Relation; they previously entered into a research agreement in 2024 to discover new therapeutic targets for fibrotic diseases and osteoarthritis. This latest agreement is seen as a follow-up collaboration to strengthen the foundation for large-scale cellular data and AI-driven insights applicable to various drug research initiatives.
