Comedian Kim Ji-min Shares Diet Brunch for Her Husband

Kim Ji-min's Diet Brunch, The Secret to a Healthy Meal

Comedian Kim Ji-min, who has been drawing a lot of attention lately, has revealed a diet meal plan she personally prepared for her husband, Kim Jun-ho. Kim Ji-min posted a photo of a delicious brunch on her social media account with the caption, "He keeps complaining about gaining weight because of me, the ungrateful man, but I still have to help him, so here's a diet meal plan."

The Appeal of a Diet Brunch

The revealed photo featured a generous spread of omelet, salad, chicken, sausage, and grilled vegetables, accompanied by a healthy drink, milk. Kim Ji-min explained that despite the appearance of a large meal, most of the dishes were salads, saying, "It's mostly just salad." In another photo, she added the caption, "Brunch for my dieting husband," expressing her affection for him.

A Protein-Focused Meal, But High in Calories?

The revealed meal includes various animal proteins such as eggs, sausage, chicken, and milk. While the carbohydrate content is low, items like sausage and fried omelets are high in protein and fat, making the overall portion substantial and potentially high in calories. Consequently, the diet effect might be diminished.

Kim Jun-ho had previously revealed that he lost 7kg through weight loss medication before their wedding, but recently regained 10kg due to rebound weight gain, which became a hot topic. This might be why Kim Ji-min's affectionate diet brunch is receiving even more attention.

The Trend of Calorie-Free Dieting

Recently, diet methods that don't involve calorie counting have been gaining popularity. Instead of reducing calorie intake, the approach of choosing healthy ingredients or protein-centric foods and eating relatively freely is attracting significant interest among dieters. This shift stems from a new perception of the quality of calories.

  • Comparing a 100kcal snack with 200kcal of almonds, the snack is quickly absorbed by the body, likely causing a rapid spike in blood sugar.
  • Almonds, on the other hand, require more energy for digestion and are absorbed less efficiently, making them more advantageous for dieting.

Ultimately, even with the same total calorie intake, opting for meals rich in protein and natural foods rather than ultra-processed foods can lead to weight loss effects. In fact, studies have shown that groups consuming minimally processed foods experienced less weight gain than those consuming ultra-processed foods.

Even Healthy Foods Can't Ignore Total Quantity

However, no matter how healthy a food is, the impact of total calorie intake on dieting cannot be overlooked. While the meal shared by Kim Ji-min consists of beneficial ingredients, if consumed for all three meals without considering the quantity and composition, weight loss results may be difficult to achieve.

Especially, the 'ideal body' that many people aim for is often not a medically healthy weight but a beauty standard, typically a body thinner than average. Therefore, simply eating regular meals in moderate amounts might not lead to the desired level of weight loss. Thus, if you wish to diet, it's crucial to consider the quality of food, the total intake, and your personal goals together.
