Yuhan Corporation Unveils 5 Post-Lazertinib Pipeline Candidates
Yuhan Corporation has revealed its confidence in future growth by unveiling five new drug candidates through its 'post-Lazertinib' strategy. This announcement was made on the 28th at the 'R&D DAY' event held at Yuhan Corporation's headquarters in Seoul, an occasion dedicated to sharing the company's vision and strategies. During the event, CEO Kim Yeol-hong stated, "We have five post-Lazertinib (domestic new drug for non-small cell lung cancer) candidates," outlining the company's future plans.
Diverse New Drug Candidates
The five pipeline candidates presented by Yuhan Corporation include treatments for allergies, MASH (Metabolic dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis), and three types of anti-cancer drugs. Notably, the allergy new drug candidate, Recigercept (YH35324), is garnering significant attention, with ongoing discussions for technology export and partnerships. This drug candidate is a potent inhibitor of immunoglobulin E (IgE) and is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials.
New Directions in Anti-Cancer Drug Development
In the field of oncology, Yuhan Corporation has introduced a small molecule targeted anti-cancer drug, YH42946. This drug targets HER2 (Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor 2) and the company plans to differentiate it through a combination strategy with Enhertu and Herceptin, which are already established in the market. CEO Kim emphasized, "Combination therapy is now the trend in oncology," highlighting the growing importance of combination treatments recognized by global pharmaceutical companies.
MASH Treatment and Its Efficacy
Furthermore, the MASH treatment candidate, YH25724 (FGF21/GLP-1), is also receiving attention. This treatment demonstrated a 46.14% reduction in liver fat in Phase 1 clinical trials and is recognized for its advantage of having fewer side effects compared to other competing drugs. Through these new drug candidates, Yuhan Corporation is implementing a strategy to diversify development costs and reinvest secured resources into the development of subsequent pipelines.
Continuous Efforts Towards the Future
CEO Kim Yeol-hong explained, "It's impossible for us to take all candidate substances to the final development stage with our own resources." He added that strategies such as establishing a NewCo (New Company) will be utilized for efficient pipeline management and development. This approach will serve as a crucial stepping stone for Yuhan Corporation to achieve sustainable growth. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of Yuhan Corporation's new drug candidates in the future.
