Samsung Bioepis Advances Commercialization of ADC New Drug SBE303

Samsung Bioepis Advances Commercialization of ADC New Drug SBE303

Recently, Samsung Bioepis and IntoCell signed a definitive agreement for an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) new drug. This agreement extends the joint research agreement signed in December 2023, focusing on the subsequent research, development, and commercialization of the first candidate substance, 'SBE303'. SBE303 targets the treatment of solid tumors and incorporates IntoCell's ADC linker platform technology.

Samsung Bioepis and IntoCell's SBE303 Commercialization Agreement

Development Background of SBE303

SBE303 is currently undergoing global Phase 1 clinical trials and is positioned as a candidate for treating solid tumors targeting Nectin-4. The agreement includes terms for development and sales milestones, as well as royalties based on sales. However, the total contract value and specific conditions have not been disclosed, per the agreement between the two companies.

Importance of Collaboration

Kim Kyung-ah, CEO of Samsung Bioepis, emphasized that this agreement marks a significant milestone in expanding their business scope into the next-generation oncology field through collaboration with domestic companies. She expressed her commitment to continuing R&D innovation to address various unmet medical needs. Park Tae-kyo, CEO of IntoCell, also shared his anticipation that the collaboration will enable IntoCell's linker platform technology to achieve meaningful results in the global market.

Research Findings on SBE303

Samsung Bioepis presented the preclinical research results of SBE303 at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in April. The study demonstrated improved antibody binding specificity to tumor cells and enhanced intracellular drug delivery efficiency compared to existing Nectin-4 targeted ADCs. These findings further bolster the commercialization potential of SBE303.

Future Expectations

The collaboration between Samsung Bioepis and IntoCell holds significant promise for cancer drug development. It is anticipated that the combined technological capabilities and resources of both companies will lead to the development of more effective treatments. The successful commercialization of SBE303 would offer new hope to many patients.
