Shinhan Bank Soldier Loan: Eligibility and Limits Explained
What is the Shinhan Bank Sol-Pian Soldier Loan?
Recently, Shinhan Bank has launched the Sol-Pian Soldier Loan, a special loan product designed for military personnel and civil servants. This product is a non-face-to-face mobile-exclusive credit loan based on the stable income of soldiers and civil servants, and can be easily applied for through the Shinhan SOL Bank app without visiting a branch. The employment and income documents required during the loan application process are automatically submitted, and you can check the limit and interest rate in just a few minutes, making it very convenient. It offers preferential interest rates for professionals, reducing the interest burden compared to second-tier financial institutions. Additionally, it allows for installment repayments for up to 5 years, enabling efficient management of household finances.
Eligibility and Conditions
The Shinhan Bank Sol-Pian Soldier Loan is available to military personnel and civil servants who have been employed for 4 months or more. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Korean nationals aged 19 or older
- Officers, non-commissioned officers, warrant officers, and civil servants
- Individuals paying health insurance premiums as a workplace subscriber
- Individuals who meet Shinhan Bank's screening criteria
However, recipients of military pensions, military academy cadets, and military personnel and civil servants with less than 4 months of service can visit a nearby branch to apply for the Shinhan Soldier Happiness Loan product.
Loan Limits and Terms
The loan limit is up to KRW 200 million, and for a minus-type account loan, it is up to KRW 50 million. The limit varies depending on the service period. For example, officers and warrant officers with less than 3 years of service can borrow up to KRW 5 million, and non-commissioned officers with less than 5 years of service can borrow up to KRW 20 million.
The loan term varies from 1 to 5 years depending on the repayment method. The maturity lump-sum repayment method is for 1 year. For the principal installment repayment method, you can choose a term between 1 and 5 years. Upon loan maturity, the loan can be repaid or the term extended based on the bank's screening results.
Repayment Methods and Precautions
Repayment methods are divided into maturity lump-sum repayment and principal installment repayment. Early repayment fees vary depending on the amount repaid early. For fixed-rate loans, 0.17% applies, and for variable-rate loans, 0.13% applies. Additionally, there is an stamp duty as a loan-related cost, which is shared 50% by the bank and 50% by the customer.
There are also points to consider when applying for a loan. The loan interest rate is applied differently based on the borrower's creditworthiness, and there may be disadvantages if loan interest is not paid or if the loan is not repaid after maturity. Therefore, be cautious as your personal credit score may decrease if your loan amount or credit card usage is excessive compared to your repayment ability.
