Gyeongbuk National University Hospital Conducts Emergency Medical Personnel Training

Recently, the Regional Cardiovascular Disease Center at Gyeongbuk National University Hospital held a special training session for emergency medical personnel in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region. This training took place over two days, from the 22nd to the 23rd, with approximately 260 119 paramedics participating. These individuals play a crucial role in the pre-hospital phase for emergency cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as acute myocardial infarction and stroke.

Key Training Content

The training curriculum was designed to enhance understanding of myocardial infarction and stroke, and to strengthen response capabilities in the field. A key feature was its case-centered approach, actively incorporating content that paramedics actually need, based on a prior needs assessment. This approach is highly beneficial for increasing applicability in real-world situations, rather than remaining purely theoretical.

Participation of Expert Instructors

The training lectures were led by Professor Janghoon Lee and Professor Namkyun Kim from Cardiology at Gyeongbuk National University Hospital, Professor Miyeon Eun from Neurology at Chilgok Gyeongbuk National University Hospital, and Professor Woochan Choi from Neurology at Gyeongbuk National University Hospital. Based on their expertise in each field, these professors provided effective training, helping paramedics acquire knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied in the field.

Importance of Strengthening the Emergency Medical System

Park Heon-sik, Director of the Regional Cardiovascular Disease Center at Gyeongbuk National University Hospital, stated, “We hope this training will help enhance the disease understanding and field response capabilities of 119 paramedics, who are the first to contact patients, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the regional emergency medical system.” Indeed, prompt and appropriate response in emergency situations is directly linked to a patient's life, making such training extremely significant.
