Apple Prep Hacks: Cut Your Apples Like This!

How to Prepare Apples: Easy and Delicious Slicing Methods

Hey everyone, apples are one of the most popular fruits in Korea, right? They're perfect for a quick breakfast or a healthy snack. Today, I'm going to share some tips on how to prepare apples more deliciously and easily. Using these methods will help you enjoy apples even more. Ready to dive in?

Washing Your Apples: The Essential First Step!

Since we often eat apples with the skin on, washing them thoroughly is super important. Many people just rinse them once or twice, but honestly, that might not be enough to remove all the surface dust and impurities. Here's my recommended method for a squeaky-clean apple:

  • Fill a bowl with enough water to submerge the apple.
  • Add 3-4 drops of vinegar and let the apple soak for about 5 minutes.
  • Gently rub the apple's surface with your hands.
  • Rinse thoroughly under running water multiple times.

This way, you can effectively remove any lingering debris from the apple's skin.

A New Way to Slice Your Apples

Now, let's get to the slicing! Instead of cutting the apple in half first, stand it upright and slice it from top to bottom into even pieces. Aim for a thickness of about 1 to 1.5 cm – not too thin. This will create several round slices. You don't need to remove the core at this stage.

Next, stack 3-4 of these slices together, laying them flat with the cut sides down. This allows you to slice through multiple pieces at once, significantly reducing your prep time.

Making Perfect Apple Sticks!

Now, slice the stacked apples from top to bottom at regular intervals. Cutting them about 1 cm thick will result in bite-sized pieces that are perfect for snacking. This method creates a lattice-like pattern, yielding much thinner and more manageable apple sticks than traditional wedges. They're great for kids' snacks or for arranging on a platter for guests, and they look incredibly neat!

Core Removal Made Easy!

With the usual slicing method, you'd have to remove seeds from each individual piece. But with this technique, the seeds are concentrated in one area, so you can just remove the core section all at once. It's so much simpler! These prepared apple slices are easy to eat, and serving them in a bowl rather than a flat plate makes them easy to pick out one by one. Plus, storing them in a tall, airtight container makes them a convenient snack to take anywhere.

This method not only saves you time but also increases the amount of edible apple. Even a simple apple can transform into a more delicious and enjoyable snack just by changing how you cut it, so definitely give it a try!
